The case
Kapur can play a Shakespearean don, a scientist destroyed by envy, and a slapstick corrupt builder inside the same decade and give each a different physical centre of gravity. He has one National Award for Best Actor and roughly ten performances that deserved one. The industry's habit of casting him as somebody's father cost Indian cinema two decades of leading roles.
